These elements include topographical features such as hills, valleys, rivers, and ponds; vegetation including trees, shrubbery, grass, and flowers; and constructed elements such as buildings, terraces, roads, bridges, fountains, and statuary. No unalterable rules exist in landscape architecture because each plot of ground offers unique problems caused by variation in contour, climate, and surrounding areas.
Landscape Architecture can range in scale from the design of a small residential terrace and the associated plantings, to site planning for a new home or building on an undeveloped site – laying out the vehicular and pedestrian circulation and other site features so they blend with the existing landform.
